we watched 'Breathe' the shortest play by Samuel Beckett, to understand the concept of the theatre of abusrd. When we watched these types of abusrd play we feel that nothing happens on the stage but there is always something behind nothing. Nothing happens without purpose. Even our existence on the earth is for some reason.
This is very short play. About 30 seconds by Samuel Beckett .It seems meaningless but carries basic meaning of life. It also considered as experimental play. This play can be interpreted many ways.

I would like to use quote for play Breath, which is used for Waiting for Godot is that "Nothing happens. Nobody comes, nobody goes, its awful. there is not a single character in the play. No story, no plot. Neither begining nor end.

The play commissioned in 1969 by Kenneth Tynan for his avant garde theatre . Company Oh!! Calcutta ! The play got a second performance inn1970 at the oxford playhouse .

The play calls for darkness in the theatre to be broken by an infantsary .Lights slowly come up revealing trash scattered anstage .
In the Oh!! Calcutta !! Production , beckette also allowed nked bodies ,used medical equipment , and swastikas to literate the state . Lights come up to full then fade down as we hear a mans death cry lights fade to black .

Meaning of the play
The play has been interpreted as a synthesizing of two world views that Beckett ascribed to , nihilism and absurdism .
Both are similar in that they share the belief that life is meaningless .
Nihilism contains the idea that since all things are meaningless , all makes of meaning should be destroyed ( church)
Life is a cry to begin with coming out of darkness trash in the middle and a cry going back into darkness

Modern Interpretation :-
Modern interpretation of the play Breathe that we find in the video that it starts with dusk and then moves on with dawn and later it ends with dusk. It shows cycle of life, then death and aging rebirth. In the video we find so many symobls that has some connection with life of humans. It starts with toys that shows our childhood then books that indicates our life as students, struggls of people to achieve their goals,then money and passbooks that has connection with our status, then camera moves on watch that in between we Forget to live and time passes like a send. And at last bottle of medicine and sunset shows our old age. Then again dusk flash In the play it darken the light and turns it into a night. We find That something ends it is light that is ended or it may be life of someone that is ended.
